Sending luggage from the airport to your hotel
You land with heavy cases and tired children, and you would rather arrive with a day bag.
Your trip is ending, the children are tired, and tomorrow's flight home leaves early.
A last night near the airport is worth it for most families flying home early in the morning, because it removes a long dawn transfer with tired children. Plan it when you book the flight, work backwards from check-in, and settle your luggage a day ahead. This page shows the order.
Start with the flight, then subtract.
Tokyo has two airports, Haneda and Narita, with different rail links 1. Narita’s official page lists rail access via the Narita Sky Access, Keisei and JR lines and points to operators for timetables 2. The early departure airport night guide gives a quick test.
Narita, Haneda and Kansai International Airport all offer luggage delivery to hotels, most major hotels can arrange delivery between hotels, and carriers have size, weight and value limits 3. Ask your hotel about cutoff times for forwarding to the airport.
Our luggage forwarding to the airport guide and the takkyubin definition explain the steps. Lockers cost between 300 and 600 yen depending on size and can fill quickly in busy places 4, so do not count on one for the final morning.
Keep it small. Have dinner near the hotel, pack the hand bag, and set out passports and boarding information. Avoid a late shopping run if the flight is early.
For a Haneda plan, see Haneda hotel night before a flight. From Kansai, read the Kansai last day guide.
Your airport depends on your flight. Read Narita or Haneda for Malaysian flights when choosing, and book the flight first so the hotel fits.
Keep medicines, snacks and a change of clothes for children in the hand bag. Do not leave passports in forwarded luggage. If you shop tax-free, check the rules before packing gifts in a forwarded case.
If your flight home leaves in the morning, send us the flight time, airport and your group. We work back to a last night, a luggage plan and a calm final evening.

Your flight options show two Tokyo airports, and you want the one that makes the first night easy.
Your flight to Kuala Lumpur leaves early, and you do not want to sprint across Tokyo with children.
You dread dragging suitcases through stations, and wonder if someone can carry them ahead.
Your flight leaves early, and you wonder whether to pay for a bed you will barely use.
You have a flight home from Kansai, and want the last day calm instead of rushed.
Decide when you book the flight home, not on the last day. Work back from check-in closing time, then add the first train or shuttle and a margin for children. If the first train cannot get you there comfortably, book an airport-side hotel.
Often, yes, but cutoffs apply. JNTO notes airport luggage services and hotel-to-hotel delivery exist, with size, weight and value limits. Ask the hotel and the carrier for the cutoff time, and keep passports, medicine and an overnight bag with you.
It can be for a few hours. Lockers cost between 300 and 600 yen depending on size, and lockers at busy locations can fill quickly. Do not rely on one on your final morning. Forward the bags or leave them at the hotel until you travel.
