Visit Japan Web, the online arrival forms
You are told to fill in forms before landing, and you want to know which ones.
Visit Japan Web is an online service from the Digital Agency of the Japanese government. It lets visitors register immigration and customs details in advance and show one QR code on arrival 1.
What does it do for you?
It moves paperwork from the airport queue to your sofa. You enter passport, trip and customs details before you fly, and you show the code when you land. That makes arrival calmer, especially after a long flight with children.
How does it matter to a Malaysian traveller?
Malaysians with a biometric passport that meets International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards can enter Japan for short stays of up to 90 days without a visa 2. The online forms are separate from the visa question, so check both. Our guide on checking official entry sources explains where to look.
Prepare your passport, flight number and first hotel address. See the first-time confidence guide for the full checklist. A data plan such as an eSIM helps if you need to open the code on arrival.
What should you keep in mind?
Rules and steps change. Always follow the current instructions on the official site, and keep a screenshot of your QR code. If you plan tax-free shopping, see tax-free shopping.
