Sapporo Nijo Market seafood breakfast
You want a crab-and-rice breakfast in Sapporo and wonder what it will really cost.
You have one evening in Sapporo and a body that has never felt real cold.
For one evening in Sapporo, start at Odori Park at dusk, go up the TV Tower if the sky is clear, and finish with ramen in Susukino. The route is short and flat, so the real planning is warmth. Dress in layers and keep each outdoor stretch brief.
Odori Park is a nearly 2 km long green space running east to west through the city centre 1. Each winter it becomes one of the main event spaces for the Sapporo Snow Festival 1.
Sapporo TV Tower stands at the eastern edge of the park and opens 9:00 to 22:00. Its observation deck is 90 metres above ground 2. Adult admission was listed at 720 yen, about RM 19 at the Bank Negara rate of RM 2.603 per 100 yen on 19 October 2026 2 3.
Susukino is Sapporo’s night-time and entertainment area 4. Ramen Alley sits in its heart. The original alley was built in 1951, demolished for the 1972 Winter Olympics and rebuilt on the original site 4.
Our guide to Sapporo ramen alley and yokocho covers what to order. If you eat halal, ask about broth and mirin before you sit, and bring a backup meal plan.
Sapporo’s mean temperature is minus 3.2 °C in January, minus 2.7 °C in February and minus 0.9 °C in December 5. Evenings feel colder than the daily mean. For a traveller used to Malaysian weather, this is a different body experience.
A simple layer plan:
Our winter walking safety guide covers ice and slow walking.
From Susukino Station, the Namboku line takes 12 or 14 minutes to Sapporo Station, and walking north takes about 20 minutes 6. Use the subway on cold or icy nights. If you plan to stay close to Susukino, read Susukino or the station as a base.
With children or elders, skip the tower and keep dinner close to the hotel. See the Sapporo page and the Hokkaido guide for the wider trip.
